WHO IS NICK WAYNE?
Born in Leeds sometime ago; studied 3-dimensional Design and Theatre Design in Nottingham and then moved down to London to seek his fortune in the pop music industry.
Opened a recording studio and booking agency, Paradise Productions, in Whitechapel, East London. Made demo tapes, records, promoted tours, music publishing and started record label. Forced to close by unsavoury characters based in the East End.
Joined Britain’s leading pop concert promoters, Harvey Goldsmith Promotions as Tour Manager, touring with artists such as The Rolling Stones, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Yes, Genesis, Phil Collins, Black Sabbath, Roxy Music, Cat Stevens and many others. After a short period of time became advertising manager as well.
1976 moved back to Leeds and worked for Richard Branson in the fledgling, Virgin Records. Then into the advertising industry as media manager, production manager and finally account executive with a couple of Yorkshire based advertising agencies.
Following redundancy, joined Wendy Wools as Sales Promotion Manager.
1983 set up Below the Line, an advertising and marketing consultancy. After 2 years became too busy to handle the volume of work and joined forces to start Copley Daly Wayne Ltd. In 1996 David Copley left to pursue other activities and CDW Graphic Design Ltd carried on as a result of the split.
Nick was a director of Print Ideas Ltd which closed in December 2016 and was continued by Dally Purewal as Ideas That Work where Nick is still involved as a freelance Marketing Consultant.
Nick is a director of the Yorkshire Asian Business Association, Ambassador for HEART, was on the Leeds Chamber of Commerce Steering Group representing Leeds Media, is a non-executive Director of Studio 81, served as a Dragon on a Dragon’s Den for Social Enterprises, member of the NSPCC Leeds Business Group and has been an adviser to Young Enterprise. Also member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, gained a Diploma in Communications, Advertising and Marketing and NVQ level 4 in Training.
